Virgil Gheorghiu, Sonet (fragment):
Asemeni lui, purtând un vis în minte,
Poeţii îşi ating desăvârşirea
Zidind iubirea vieţii în cuvinte.
Now minstrels sing his praise and utter Glory
The good and great will bring his fame abroad:
His monument to Love enshrines his Story.

Vincent van Gogh about Elisabeth of Romania:
“A childless woman is like a bell without a clapper—the sound of the bronze would perhaps be beautiful, but no one will ever hear it.”
Quoted by Vincent van Gogh In a Letter to Theo Saint-Rémy, 19 September 1889

Poetry in Translation (CXXXVI): Edith SITWELL (1887-1964) – “Answers”, “Răspunsuri”

Edith SITWELL (1887-1964) – “Answers”, “Răspunsuri”
I kept my answers small and kept them near;
Big questions bruised my mind but still I let
Small answers be a bulwark to my fear.
Răspunsuri mici păstrez mereu discret
Ca să nu-nfrunte grijile prea mari
Deşi răspunsuri mici răman în piept.

Poetry in Translation (XXXVII): Bernardo ATXAGA – Poet Basc (n.1951), “VIATA” (Bizitzak)

Viata ne-apare
ca un sir de contraste:
Cand nu e-o jungla
E complect desarta
de ori ce vis.
La fel ca Toamna asta,
Cu ferigi palite,
cand i-e dor de
Zapada
si de haite de Lupi
sa fie despuiata
ca infinitul iarna.
Iar Soarelui, Soarelui i-e dor
de raza de lumina pura
orbind ca sageata memoria
Albinelor.
In timp ce Noaptea,
Noaptea viseaza doar
la prima clipa
Cand a fost noapte.
Si-asa
ca Nici o data
sau
ca Intotdeauna
imi bate inima-n
ritmul
acestor doua extreme, fiind, din pacate,
tot ce-mi doresc.
