Lover:
“After the metaphors, the Chemist. This is how great sentiments are frittered away. To start as a poet and finish as a gynaecologist. From all conditions, that of the lover is the least enviable.”
(Emil Cioran (1911-1995), philosopher, writer)

You’re passing, like a fairy, in shimmering of shadows,
Which ripple in the echoes, to freeze in marble stone.
As in my singing body reverberates your music
Which keeps your smile eternal, with its angelic tone.

Jealousy
Had we never met before
(Incidentally, by mistake)
You’d have loved, for Goodness’ sake,
Any lad and any bore.

Când te vei trezi, lipiţi de geamuri,
arlechini din sticle colorate
vor lăsa prin ei să-ţi cadă-n braţe
soarele, mereu la jumătate.
As you will find it, early in the morning,
the arlequin will start his joyful dancing:
as all resplendent sunrays will be donning
the immortality in which you will be basking.

POETRY IN TRANSLATION (CCCLXXXVI): Adrian MUNTEANU (b. 1948-Brasov), ROMANIA – “Scriu un sonet. Deplină amăgire”, “The Sonnet – an Eternal Tease”
March 18th, 2016 · 1 Comment · International Media, PEOPLE, Poetry, quotations, Translations
Adrian MUNTEANU
(b. 1948, Brasov)
“The Sonnet – an Eternal Tease”
I write a sonnet as a constant tease –
Its rules are there to liberate my dream,
To be myself and follow, as I seem
To play with empty words of love and ease.

Poetry in Translation (CCCXLVII), William Butler YEATS (1865-1939) IRELAND: “Down By the Salley Gardens”, “Râul cu salcâmi”
July 26th, 2015 · Comments Off on Poetry in Translation (CCCXLVII), William Butler YEATS (1865-1939) IRELAND: “Down By the Salley Gardens”, “Râul cu salcâmi” · Famous People, PEOPLE, Poetry, quotations, Translations
Down by the salley gardens my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy, as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish, with her would not agree.
La râul cu salcâmi, mi-am întâlnit iubita;
Fiind trasă prin inel, mi-am încercat ispita.
Mi-a spus s-o iau uşor, ca florile de nea,
Dar, tânăr fiind, am vrut norocul a-ncerca.

If I were hanged on the highest hill,
Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!
I know whose love would follow me still,
Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!
If I were drowned in the deepest sea,
Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!
I know whose tears would come down to me,
Mother o’ mine, O mother o’ mine!
If I were damned of body and soul,
I know whose prayers would make me whole,
Mother o’ mine, O, mother o’ mine!
Dac-al meu trup şi suflet în gheenă ar fi,
Numai ruga ta, mamă, m-ar putea mântui.
O, mamă, dulce mamă!

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone,
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone,
Silence the pianos and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.
