Portrait d’une femme

în labirintul corpului tău ca o floare retractilă stângace
micile pârâiaşe de sânge şi limfă prefac perfecţiunea
în suav neant al cărnii.
o, anatomie a frigului o, anatomie a visului
ascuns în petalele oaselor tale în cartilagiile iluziei.
în labirintul corpului tău
nici o mirare nu rămâne intactă
nici o tristeţe nu se străvede
în oglinzile concave ale minţii.
doar săruturile neîntâmplate se preling în colţul buzelor
ca un surâs răstălmăcit ca o himeră tulburător
de reală.

In your body’s maze

In your body’s maze, like a timid retractable flower,
small rivulets of blood and lymph transform perfection
in the sweet nothingness of flesh.
anatomy of cold, anatomy of dream
hidden in the petals of your bones, in the cartilage of illusion
in your body’s maze
no wonder remains intact
no sadness could be surmised
within the concave mirror of your mind
only the unconsumed kisses
trickle in the corner of your lips
like a misinterpreted smile like
a disturbingly real
chimera.

at the corner of my lips
like a provisional sentence
like a delicate punishment
like a spider hanging on a star’s ray.

SHORT BIO NOTE: Iulian BOLDEA (b. in 1963, Mureș County, Transylvania) is a critic, litarary historian, poet and academic. As a graduate of the „Babeș-Bolyai” University, Cluj-Napoca (1989) he subsequently obtained a doctorate in filology (1996). Currently he is a Professor of Romanian Literature at the „Petru Maior” University, Târgu-Mureș and Dean of the Faculty of Science and Literature.
BOLDEA is, among others, Editor of Vatra, of the “Studia Universitatis Petru Maior” and author of three volumes of poetry, as well as of sundry books of literary criticism.
Iulian BOLDEA is a Member of the Romanian Writers Union.
